Graduate Student Checklist

Please be certain to follow through with all of the items listed below in order to make your entrance into the Civil and Coastal Engineering program a successful one!

____ 1) If you are an international student, be certain to contact the University of Florida International Center (UFIC) to complete the admissions process with them. If you accepted an offer of funding, you must take your offer letter to the UFIC upon arrival onto campus to show proof of employment. They will then provide you with information on how to obtain a Social Security Card.

____2) If you received an assistantship or fellowship, you must MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to meet with Ketty Fizer (365 Weil Hall) to complete your paperwork that is necessary to begin the payroll process for you. If you are a US resident you must bring your Driver’s License and Social Security card to the appointment. If you are an international student, in addition to your social security card, you must also bring your I-20, I-94, visa, and your passport to the appointment.

(Please note:It takes approximately 6 weeks from the time you complete the payroll process with Ketty for you to receive your first paycheck. It is advisable to allow yourself sufficient funds to maintain the standard of living to which you are accustomed until you begin receiving your stipend.)

____3) If the Graduate Admissions Office requested that you bring any additional documents to finalize your admissions, take them directly to Criser Hall upon your arrival so that your file can be finalized.

____4) Be certain to attend the New Graduate Student Orientation and other graduate student events.

____5) Check-In at the Graduate Records and Advising Office in 480D Weil Hall upon arrival. Meet Nancy and Carol.
